Further into the Auction
Most Acol players are happy with their opening bids – what they show and how to respond – but can lose their way as the auction progresses. Whether this is caused by an unfamiliar card holding, interference from the Opponents, or a poor partnership understanding, the outcome is never good. Declaring a hand in the wrong contract can be dispiriting as the hand seems to drag on. This seminar event will take us further into the auction and increase our ability to finish in the best contract. After each seminar there will be an opportunity to play some BMB set hands to reinforce what we have learned during the lesson. We will also be playing duplicate bridge using computer- dealt random hands and there will be a small prize for the partnership that demonstrates proficiency in what we have learned. Event Itinerary
A standard seminar event is full board, with two seminars and set hands, 4 duplicate sessions as well as a bidding quiz to reinforce your learning. All sessions are optional and partners will be found. Other event types may differ in format.

Day One
15.00 – 17.30Welcome Desk Open. You are able to check into your rooms from 3pm onwards. Tea or coffee, with biscuits, will be available.
17.45 – 18.30Welcome Reception. Complimentary glass of house wine or fruit juice. To be held in the bar on the ground floor.

10.00 – 12.30Seminar & supervised play of set hands. Tea & coffee at 11am.

07.30 – 09.30Breakfast. Note: the hotel asks guests to check out before 10.30am. It is therefore advised that you check out after breakfast.

14.00 – 16.00Bridge Session. With tea and coffee available after. All depart. Have a safe journey.

Please note, executive bedrooms are not in the main building. They are in the courtyard building which is a short walk outside from the hotel reception.
If you book a standard bedroom and request a walk-in shower, it is very unlikely you will be allocated one as they all have a bath with a shower over it.
You should opt to pay for one of the upgrade options if a walk-in shower is essential.
The hotel has two accessible bedrooms.
